Now that we are finally at a point where we can avoid bundling up beyond all reason and let our spring fashion fly, fashionistas are going to need a guide for what is on trend this spring season.

Last year we saw the streets filled with bold stripes, leather and beautiful beading. While the leather trend has managed to stick around and gather some followers, the rest have kind of fallen by the wayside.

But enough about last year (that鈥檚 so last year)! This year has us seeing a completely new palette of trends to wet our appetites.

The first one being pastels, these dreamy colours seem to be affected by the pendulum swing of fashion more so than most. The light, airy colours are perfect for wear in the spring and no, you won鈥檛 look like an Easter egg! A pastel done right can include a full pastel outfit, or just a pop of the soft tone. Try a light, loose silk tank under a grey blazer, or a slim fitting button-up on top of dark blue jeans.

Speaking of jeans, the skinnies that have been a staple in our wardrobe might just find some new company. Wide legged trousers are making a comeback for the warmer weathered months. Don鈥檛 throw out your skinny jeans just yet though; simply make extra space for this 1970鈥檚 style come back. If you are on the hunt for the perfect pair of wide legged trousers, search for more of a pant and less of a jean. If you are on the short-end of the spectrum, find a pair that is higher waisted as well as leaner in the leg; this will elongate your frame giving the illusion of height.

The last spring trend you should be sure to fill your closet with, is the cool bomber jacket. Bomber jackets should be a staple in everyone’s wardrobe, but the styles showcased for spring are on another level. Designers showcased their best bomber jackets in their spring fashion shows last fall and to make this trend work for you, a commitment is in order.

When adding the perfect cool bomber to your wardrobe look for something less safe and a little more out there. Search for colours, textures, and unique prints. The wilder you can handle the better for this trend. These jackets are perfect for layering and give your outfit that little bit of extra oomph it needs.

This spring is all about taking risks, so if you are a 鈥減lay it safe鈥� kind of person when it comes to fashion, throw that out the window and try something new! If you just want to dip your toe in the spring trend pool, start by adding a pastel; in no time you will be topping that pastel off with a floral bomber.
